In the Netherlands, the 30th of April is a national holiday celebrating the queen’s birthday (Koninginnedag). On this day there are public festivities and people set up all kinds of booths to sell all manner of things on the streets. During the celebration, many people dress in orange giving reference to the House of Orange-Nassau.
Eliana –my niece from Amsterdam, sent this photo to me. Here we see her holding up an origami barking-dog. The dog attracted a lot of attention as well as many visitors to her origami umbrella-stand. Throughout the day Eliana sold flapping birds, elephants, and other models that she had folded herself. All her customers were very happy.
Here is are links to instructions on how to fold this barking dog.

Hi, Leyla
By chance a work colleague asked me to fold a model dog (she has a shi tzu). I saw your entry when I got home last night, so she now has a barking dog! I flattened the face a little to match the breed and used some black and white coloured paper.
Such an effective but simple model.

Matthew
Hi Matthew,
I had lost track of this model until my sister brought out one that I had given her long time ago. Then I found the link to P. Jackson’s video. Yeah, is a great little action model.
I’d love to see your version of the barking Shi Tzu. I hope it doesn’t bite! 🙂
Hi Leyla,
I’ve just uploaded a photo of the barking shi tzu to my new blog: dorsetorigami.blogspot.com. A biting dog, that would be a design challenge!
Hey,
I’m trying to make a barking dog for my family but, I watched that P. Jackson’s video and I got confused, but couldn’t find a link anywhere that didn’t have a video of him. I kinda need just written out steps, and wondered if you could help me.
Kristen
