I desire to have at least seven lives such as those for which the cat is famous. But I want them to be parallel lives, because if they were consecutive I would have to wait for decades before I can do those activities that are irresistible to me. Here I list activities to which I would devote my full time in each one of those lives:
- to create visual images (to paint, to illustrate, to take photographs)
- to fold paper
- to write
- to read
- to travel
- to study languages –in addition to Spanish (my native tongue) and English (my second), none of which I master yet.
- to experiment in the kitchen
As it is, I divide the only life I have into at least seven arts. Compulsive as I am, I find it frustrating not to devote full time to each one of them. Of course it would be more sensible to focus on a single art and explore it in its full depth and dimension, but I don’t seem to be able to choose one and give up the rest.
I have decided that, as the cat, I will master the art of playing… –using colors, papers and words– without complicating myself with greater ambitions.
I play, therefore I am.
