In 2008, paper folders from Latin America and Spain organized Origami conventions in their respective countries. This weekend -August 29-31, 2008, marks the first convention in Quito, Ecuador. *
In Latin America particularly, these meetings are a telling indicator of the increasing interest in the art of paper folding, especially since the torch was first lit with the first origami convention in 1997, in Cali, Colombia. How far things have progressed in ten short years!
Cheers to the Ibero-American paper folders for their organization!
I would love to travel to all these meetings –wouldn’t many of us? Since I cannot be in Quito then for this inaugural event, I would still like to participate by sharing the following video demonstrating how to fold the inflatable hen I presented in an earlier post of this blog.
* Additional conventions in Latin America and Spain 2008: Chile in February, Spain in May, Mexico in August, Venezuela in September, Colombia in May and November.

Hi, Leyla,
I love your hen! With this 3D model, you’ve captured the essence of proud, fat hens sitting on their eggs, yet it’s easy enough for new folders. Thanks for sharing.
